All the designs and templates come with an extensive list of mods that you can make without ever having to touch a line of code. The premium Shopify designs and templates come with more additions and features, but that doesn't mean you can't create a great store with a free design.

Well, follow with me

If you want to change a template or design, there are very few restrictions on what we can achieve with access to HTML and CSS. But don't worry if you have no experience with molding. Shopify has a platform that contains an international team of designers and developers to serve you in "Shopify Experts", which you can use to completely customize your site, but of course for a fee.

To find a template or design that fits your needs, we recommend the following:

1. Browse the Shopify template store

After logging into Shopify and visiting the Theme Store on Shopify, there you'll find over 180 original designs to choose from, including an excellent selection of free designs.

You can filter them according to which features are available, either free or paid. You can also sort designs by ratings, popularity, specialty, etc. ...

2. Check reviews and template features
Once you find a template you like, click on the Template image. I will give you more information about the design, such as whether it is responsive / ready for use with other features.

Scroll down to read some reviews to see if users like the theme or not

3. Template preview on nature
To see the template as a live model, click Demo. Below you will find it “Preview Theme in your Store” in green.

If the design has over one layout and different views, see all the different layouts and shapes of the design

4. Get the template
After you find a template you like, click the green button.

Shopify will ask you to confirm that you want to install this template.

Click “Publish as my Shop’s Theme”.

Don't worry if you are not 100% sure it's the right design for you. You can always change your mind later.

After installing the theme, Shopify will let you know, and give you the option to go to Theme Manager's template manager.

In the template manager you will find all the installed templates, whether the active template or any other templates you have added.

4. Editing the Shopify settings

Most Shopify's themes allow you to make simple changes that can drastically change the look of your store, you won't end up with a website that looks like a copy of thousands of other stores.

On the Control Panel, select "Themes" from the left-hand-side navigation menu. On this page you will see the Live Template in a box at the top, and in the upper left corner of this box there will be two buttons. The first one of three points, which gives you some basic settings, changes. One of these allows you to make a duplicate of the template. I highly recommend that you do this in case you make some changes that you dislike, then you can delete the duplicates and start over.

The second button says "Customize Template". If you click on that, it will take you to a page that controls all the basic functions of your store. This is the time for you to play comprehensively with the settings and test all the features so you can see what your site can do.

Custom settings for your templates

Change the colors in your template.

Additional features in most of the existing templates include:

Download logos
Download sliders (animated images) on the home page
Add related items' functionality to product pages
Choose how many items appear on each line of the product section pages
Color schemes
Font options.
Some templates also allow you to reposition items on pages such as displaying product images to the left, right, or center of the page. You can also choose whether you want to display social media buttons such as Facebook, Twitter, and Google Plus.

5. Add your products to the store

Once again, navigate from the bar on the left to select "Products". You will then see a blue "Add a product" button on the top right of the page. Use the following screen to add as much detail as possible about your products. Special look at those that will help in SEO such as name, description, and website title. You can also include as much detail as possible about variants to help inform customers about your products.

Also on this screen is where you download the product images. After uploading the images, you can rearrange them so that you don't have to worry about uploading them in any order.

Images are an important factor in encouraging customers to buy, so display your products at their best and highlight any special features with close-ups. To keep your store tidy, we suggest
you keep all images the same dimensions. Unless, of course, you're planning to make your product pages look like Pinterest.

After filling in everything, always remember to click on the "Save Product" button in the bottom right and right corners.

Create sections (product categories)
Divisions are any group of products that contain some common features that customers might look for when visiting your store. For example, your customers might shop for:

Clothes, whether for men, women or children,
Items of a specific type, such as lamps, pillows, or rugs
Items for sale
Items in a certain size or color
Seasonal products like holiday cards and decorations.
The same product can be in several sections, you can display the sections on your home page and in the main top menu of the site. This helps customers find what they're looking for without having to click through the full catalog.

Manual and automatic sections
When adding a new section, you can specify how products will be added to it. These are the two options:

Manually You can add and remove products in the Manually individually categories.
Automatically You can set up selection conditions to automatically include products that meet certain criteria.

Payment gateways

The payment gateway allows you to receive payments from your customers via your website. Price and commission matter are important, but it is also important to know the features they offer. I created not all payment gateways the same way.

You should consider the following when choosing the right payment gateway for you.

1. Transfer fees

Some portals keep a small percentage or flat fee (or sometimes both) to allow you to use their service. Compare I expect these based on what your sales to do.

2. Types of cards

You must know what your chosen payment gateway accepts types of cards. All of them accept Visa and MasterCard, while most of them accept American Express. Paypal has also become popular for online payments.

3. Exit outside the site

Some gateways will take payments on their servers via their own form. This means that the customer will make the payment in the form provided by your payment gateway. They are then redirected to your confirmation page once the customer has successfully paid. This allows you to have more control over the checkout process. You can now circumvent Shopify's limitations in that they don't allow you to customize the checkout process other than CSS.

Payment gateway transaction fees add up to the highest Shopify transaction fees. However, starting in November, stores in the US and UK can use payment gateways and depending on the Shopify plan, you can save on these additional costs. As for your plan, you will receive these very attractive rates.

Depending on the number of transactions you make per month, it might be worth upgrading to take advantage of these savings.

If you live in the US or UK, your store will automatically use Shopify Payments. To complete this, click on the "Complete Payify Payments account setup" button located in Settings> Payments. If you wish to use an external gateway, you can use the “enable payment gateways” link on the same page.

6. Get a "LIVE" online store

Before your site becomes available on the web, you need to add some additional details about your company and how you plan to make deliveries and pay taxes.

Year
Fill out all of your business information on this page. Also, make sure to use the Google Analytics feature. This can be an invaluable source for tracking your store visitors.

Taxes

Go to the "Products page" in the control panel

Click on the name of a specific product.
Scroll down to the section called “Inventory & variants”.
Click the edit link next to your product variants to open the edit window.
Check the check boxes next to Tax on shipping and Requires shipping if you need to include it with your products.
Some stores will not need to charge tax or shipping for products like Digital Goods. A T-shirt store will probably need to ship both.
If you plan to ship your product to customers, be sure to enter the product weight in the field.
Shipping
If your shipping rates are too tight, or we do not give you enough options, you may lose some sales. Shopify will calculate the shipping rate for customers based on the rules you define on the admin page. To make sure you don't lose any sales:

From the store dashboard, go to the Settings> Shipping page.
In the "Shipping rates" section, look to see if you've set and adjusts a weight-based shipping rate according to your product specifications.
Test your order system
To test your system, you can simulate a transaction using Shopify's Bogus Gateway.
To use the Bogus Gateway:
From your store control panel, click on "Settings", then "Payments" to go to "Payments settings"

If it enabled the credit card payment gateway, deactivate it before proceeding. (Click Edit, then Deactivate, then confirm deactivation.)

In the Credit Cards Acceptance section, click Select Credit Card Gateway to open the drop-
down menu.
Scroll down the list to Other, then click (for testing) Bogus Gateway.
Click Activate (or Reactivate, if you've used Bogus Gateway before).
Go to your storefront and place an order as a customer. When checking out, enter the following credit card details in place of the real numbers:
Test a real payment gateway with a real transaction:

Make sure that we set the payment gateway you want to test up.
Purchase from your store as a customer and complete the checkout process with real credit card details.
You can cancel the order immediately, get a refund, and avoid paying the transaction fee.
Log in to the payment gateway to make sure the funds have passed.
Is it free?
Yes - just cancel and return the order shortly after placing it.

If we recorded the billing cycle after you submitted the test request, but before we canceled it, the transaction fee will appear on your bill. You can still cancel after paying your bill to Shopify, but you will receive the refund as a transaction credit in your account. You can use transaction balances to pay future transaction fees.

7. Consider purchasing a domain name

To get your site straight, you'll need a domain name. You have two options for this. First, you can purchase a domain from Shopify and it will be added to your store automatically. This saves your time, especially if you do not know of website hosting. These domains typically cost between $9 and $14 per year. Your second option is to purchase a domain from a third party like GoDaddy. These domains start from $1.99 per year. The downside is that you will have to forward the DNS records yourself, which might seem daunting at first.

If you cannot come up with a suitable domain name, read tips on how to choose a domain name.

Here are the steps to put your new Shopify store directly on a third-party domain name.

Add the new domain in Shopify

In the Shopify admin dashboard, on the left bar go to Settings> Domains and add your domain name using the "Add an existing domain '" button.

DNS records update

Log in to your domain registrar and change your DNS records:

Replace “@” or main A record with the following IP address: “23.227.38.32”
Add or replace www CNAME with storename.myshopify.com (i.e. your Storeify Shop link without the http, which you can see on the Domains settings page)

Remove any passwords on the store

Otherwise, no one will access your site even once it is published.

Set primary if appropriate

In Settings> Domains, you can choose your primary domain using the drop-down menu at the top of the screen:

Also, be sure to check 'Redirect all traffic to this domain'. This means that all visitors to other domains will be directed to your primary domain. This is crucial for SEO.

And that is all there is to it. Theoretically, you can have a gorgeous, unique, fully functional store in less than half an hour without needing to be a web expert. This way, you can spend most of your time marketing your product instead of having to maintain the site.
